Female arrested after making threats toward Northwest Schools

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman advised that on Friday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 7:47 a.m., the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Communications Center received a report from Northwest High School regarding threats made toward the school.

Deputies responded immediately, assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that the suspect had already been detained by school staff in an administrative office. The investigation revealed that while riding a school bus, the suspect was engaged in a conversation with another student about a song referencing bringing a shotgun to school and committing a school shooting. During this conversation, the suspect allegedly stated that she would like to bring a bomb to the school and “get rid of the school and the people in it.”

Two students who overheard the statements reported the incident to the bus driver, who then notified his supervisor. Assistant Principal Camron Hoover escorted the suspect to the school office, where a search of her belongings was conducted for weapons or explosives. Deputies later advised the suspect of her Miranda rights, at which time she admitted to making the statements and provided a written confession.

Star Jackson, age 18, of Lucasville, Ohio, was arrested and charged with Inducing Panic, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Making Terroristic Threats, a felony of the third degree. She is currently being held at the Scioto County Jail on a $11,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, April 27, 2026.
