Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman states that his office will be highly visible and cracking down on impaired drivers during the Labor Day holiday. The Sheriff’s Office will have additional deputies working the traffic enforcement through September 1st, 2025. This project is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
“A safe environment for residents and visitors of our county will always be a focus for the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office,” said Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman. “Coordinated efforts
with other law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders to stop deaths associated with
impaired driving continues to be a main focus for our deputies.”
Sheriff Thoroughman advised that “Impaired driving remains a leading cause of preventable crashes and loss of life. Ohio saw a 13% increase in alcohol-impaired driving in fatal crashes from 2023 through 2024.”
Sheriff Thoroughman wishes everyone a safe Labor Day weekend and to enjoy family and friends! I encourage motorists to buckle up, follow all traffic laws and safely call 9-1-1 to report impaired drivers.
