Two Suspects Arrested After Shots Fired Call

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman stated that at approximately 2:41am on Saturday, January 3, 2026, his 9-1-1 communication center received multi calls of shots fired in the area of 5124 Swauger Valley Road Portsmouth, Ohio.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that upon deputy’s arrival, multiple individuals and multiple firearms were located. A detective responded to process the scene and begin the investigation. One individual was treated and released from Southern Ohio Medical Center for a possible gun shot wound.
As a result of the on-going investigation two individuals have been charged in the incident; arrested was William Durham, age 26, of 5124 Swauger Valley Rd. Portsmouth, Ohio. Also arrested was Jabez Stephen Durham, age 28, of 102 Washington Blvd. West Portsmouth, Ohio. Both individuals are charged with Felonious Assault, a felony of the 2nd Degree. Both, William and Jabez, are being held on a $20,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, January 5, 2026.
