Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman reports that his 911 communication center received a
call on Sunday, June 1,2025 at 6:59 am from an employee of Dollar General store located at 16 Brouse Run West Portsmouth.
The employee reported that he reported to work and found that someone had broken in to the business by shattering the front glass on the door.
Upon the arrival of deputies and detectives they observed a trail of blood, as well as a trail of woman's panties and bras which had been stolen from the store, leading away from the business.
Sheriff Thoroughman advised that the surveillance cameras inside the store showed a male subject wearing what appeared to be white underwear or panties as well as a cape. The suspect had no other clothing nor shoes on. The subject busted the front door glass out and walked straight to the female clothing section, grabbing several packs of panties and bras. He then fled the store on foot. The suspect left a trail of panties and bras leading away from the store towards the roadway.
Detectives were able to recover evidence which has been sent for testing.
If anyone has any information on this suspect, please contact Detective Sgt. Jodi Conkel @ 740-

That's a bizarre situation! I wonder what motivated this person. You'd think with so many security cameras around these days, people would think twice before attempting something like this. It sounds like this person was definitely trying to overcome some personal hurdle. Hopefully, they can identify this underwear bandit soon! The detective team will need to be a Block Breaker to open this case.
Wow… that’s one of the strangest stories I’ve heard in a while. It almost sounds like something out of a bizarre comedy skit, but I’m sure it was unsettling for anyone involved. Hopefully, they catch the guy soon—walking around in just underwear and a cape, stealing lingerie, and leaving a trail behind is definitely not normal behavior. ragdoll hit
Oh no, that's awful news about the Dollar General in West Portsmouth! It's always disheartening to hear about break-ins impacting local businesses. I hope they're able to catch whoever is responsible and that the damage/loss wasn't too significant. Thinking about childhood memories, this reminds me how safe our small town felt; sometimes, I wish things were as simple as navigating islands in Poptropica again. Wishing the community and the store a speedy recovery from this.
